Kevin is a Senior Client Service Associate at Colony Family Offices. He plays an integral role in providing excellent service to our client families and provides support to the Advisor team. Kevin is also involved in many different review processes including covering capital calls, tax summaries, client onboarding, and subscription documents.
Kevin worked at CITCO for ten years before joining Colony where he was a Supervisor and Senior Fund Accountant. During this time, he gained experience with private equity, commodities, repurchase agreements, and long/short hedge fund strategies. His tasks and accomplishments include creating efficiencies for ongoing processes and accounting functions, review and reconciliation of daily fund-level transaction data, and capital statement preparation and review.
Kevin is a graduate of both North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Accounting, respectively.
John is currently a Wealth Analyst at Colony Family Offices. His primary responsibility is to assist financial advisors and investment advisors by researching and analyzing a wide range of financial planning and wealth management strategies. He became a part of Colony Family Offices in January 2023.
Before joining Colony Family Offices, John served as a Senior Consultant at Elliott Davis, where he specialized in offering forensic, valuation, and litigation support consulting services. Prior to that, he held positions as a wealth analyst at Jeter Hrubala Wealth Strategies and as a portfolio analyst at UNFCU in Vienna, Austria.
John holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation. He obtained his Bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Finance from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Ed is the Director of Operations at Colony Family Offices. He manages Colony’s Charlotte-based Client Service Team and works closely with client families to ensure they consistently receive the highest level of service. Ed joined Colony in 2023, coming from Fidelity Investments where he led the Fidelity Family Offices Client Service Team in Texas. He has over 25 years of experience in Operations and Customer Service in the financial services industry.
While at State Street Bank and Trust, Ed held various positions where he managed large relationships, established processes and procedures, participated in system enhancements and system migrations. He was responsible for managing multiple teams of customer service and operational professionals. Ed joined Fidelity Investments in 2006 to manage a team responsible for servicing large Registered Investment Adviser and Broker Dealer relationships and then accepted a role to lead the Client Service Team for Fidelity Family Offices.
Ed is a graduate of Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ where he received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Finance concentration.
Kristin is a Wealth Advisor for Colony Family Offices, working with clients to develop, implement and monitor integrated customized financial planning strategies that meet their short and long-term goals and objectives. She also helps coordinate the firm’s business development efforts.
Kristin has over 24 years providing specialized counseling to affluent clients in a variety of financial planning areas, including cash flow / retirement planning, stock options and employee benefits, insurance, investments, income taxation and transfer taxation. After beginning her career as a Tax Consultant at Deloitte, she was a Vice President and Senior Financial Planner with Wachovia Wealth Management. Prior to joining Colony, she spent 10 years as a Partner and Director of Financial Planning at Queens Oak Advisors.
Kristin earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master of Accounting degree with an emphasis in taxation from North Carolina State University. She holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation. For over 5 years, Kristin also coordinated and taught the Estate Planning module of the CFP® Financial Planning Education Program for Queens University of Charlotte. Kristin is a member of the Foundation for the Carolinas Professional Cabinet of Advisors and the Charlotte Estate Planning Council. She also currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Charlotte Latin School Parents’ Council.
Sorina joined Colony as a member of the Client Service Team in 2016. She plays an integral role in ensuring excellent service to our client families, and in providing operational support to Advisors. Sorina leads our new client on boarding process, coordinates and communicates with our client’s tax professionals, facilitates money movement requests, and provides assistance to other associates on the team. Prior to joining Colony, Sorina used her strong organizational and execution skills as an office manager at a healthcare practice in Charlotte.
Outside of the office, you will find Sorina organizing and executing events throughout Charlotte helping to bring different communities together.
Sorina is a graduate of Arizona Christian University in Phoenix, Arizona where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance: Vocal Emphasis with a minor in Biblical Theology.
David is an Investment Advisor at Colony Family Offices. He helps manage Colony’s investment process and works closely with client families to develop, implement and monitor customized portfolios. David originally joined Colony as a Financial Analyst and has over 14 years of experience in the investment industry.
Previously, David was a Supervisor and Senior Fund Accountant at Citco Fund Services, where he was responsible for all accounting functions and preparation of financial statements, partner allocations, income flow, and oversight of fund operations. Prior to Citco, David was a Senior Fund Accountant at SEI Investments in Oaks, Pennsylvania, where he serviced the accounting and financial functions for hedge fund of funds, directly traded, and private equity structures.
David is a graduate of Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Finance concentration.
Pete is an Investment Advisor at Colony Family Offices. He helps manage Colony’s investment process and works closely with client families to develop, implement and monitor customized portfolios. Pete brings more than 18 years of investment management experience to Colony.
Most recently, he served as a Portfolio Manager at Solamere Advisors, where he was responsible for developing and implementing investment strategies for high net worth individuals. His duties included constructing strategic asset allocations, manager due diligence and selection, as well as client relationship management. Prior to that, Pete held positions with Wachovia Wealth Management in Washington, D.C. and Charlotte, NC.
Pete received his B.A. in Economics from St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York. Pete has been awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) designation by the CFA Institute. He is a regular member of the CFA Institute and the North Carolina CFA Society.
Kathy is a Wealth Advisor for Colony Family Offices. She oversees trust operations, fiduciary administration, and internal audit for Colony Trust Company. She has worked with affluent families for over 25 years providing income, estate, gift and trust planning. Kathy spends her time assisting clients with their fiduciary responsibilities as trustees and helping clients achieve their wealth, estate and business succession goals in a tax-efficient manner. She also enjoys educating future generations regarding their responsibilities related to the inheritance of wealth.
Kathy was a CPA with Arthur Andersen, LLP and then as the Tax Partner in charge of the Carolinas Private Wealth Services practice at Grant Thornton, LLP. Prior to joining Colony, she served as the family office director for various members of the Belk family.
Kathy earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting at Louisiana State University, graduating magna cum laude, and her Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, graduating magna cum laude. She is a Certified Public Accountant, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and a member of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. She is an active member of the Charlotte Estate Planning Council and past president of the board. Kathy also is a member of the Foundation For The Carolinas Professional Cabinet of Advisors and the Queens University Planned Giving Council. In 2008, she was honored with the Charlotte Business Journal’s Top 25 Women In Business Award.
Shannon is a Wealth Advisor for Colony Family Offices and serves as in-house counsel for Colony Trust Company. A native of Charlotte, he has helped affluent families manage the complexities and responsibilities of wealth across the Southeast for over 25 years. Shannon spends a significant amount of time helping families plan for major transitions, especially the transfer of wealth between generations.
Shannon began his career as a tax consultant for Ernst & Young, LLP in Atlanta. He practiced law in North Carolina for a number of years where he focused on tax and estate planning, commercial real estate, and corporate transactions. Prior to joining Colony, Shannon served as Chief Fiduciary Officer and Family Wealth Advisor for Arlington Family Offices, and as Director of Financial Planning for Calibre (formerly Wachovia’s Multi-Family Office).
Shannon earned his B.S.B.A in Economics from Western Carolina University, cum laude, his J.D. from the Cumberland School of Law of Samford University and his LL.M in taxation from Boston University’s School of Law. Shannon has written and lectured frequently for various North Carolina continuing legal education programs and was recognized by Legal Services for the Elderly, Inc. as the Mecklenburg County “pro-bono” lawyer of the year in 2002. He is a member of the Charlotte Estate Planning Council.
Tom is an Investment Advisor for Colony Family Offices. He leads the overall integrated investment process for the firm, manages the strategic relationship with Greycourt & Co. and works closely with family clients. Tom brings more than 23 years of investment management experience to Colony.
Previously, Tom was a Family Investment Officer at GenSpring Family Offices, LLC, responsible for the introduction, implementation, and management of GenSpring’s investment process for client families. His duties included investment policy formation, asset allocation strategy development, investment manager selection, and client relationship management. Prior to GenSpring, Tom was a portfolio manager in the external manager strategies group at Franklin Street Partners, an investment firm in Chapel Hill, NC. In that role, he directed the firm’s investment manager research effort in the public equity space and co-managed a global equity and credit fund of funds. Tom was also a member of the firm‘s asset allocation team.
Tom is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill receiving his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He also received his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School. In addition, Tom holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation.
